Baked Cinnamon Apples Recipe
Apple season is officially here (did you see those Apple Pie Cookies I baked?) and I couldn’t be more excited! There’s not much better than baked apples, especially when they’re filled with a delicious mixture of brown sugar, butter and cinnamon.

How To Bake Apples
This recipe is simple, requiring 6 (basic) ingredients and a baking dish . That’s it!
To begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grab a baking dish. Now, carefully cut the top off each apple (making a lid), scoop out the core and seeds from each apple, leaving a well in the middle. You do not want to cut all the way through the apple, so make sure there is still a base.
Place the cored apples in a baking dish and stuff them with brown sugar and butter. Then sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. If you love nuts, add some walnuts or pecans inside the apple too. Finally, add the apple top back on each apple.
Cover the bottom of the baking dish with a small amount of water and add one tablespoon of vanilla to the water.
Bake in the oven for 45 minutes, and what’s that smell? Yeah, your home smells amazing right now!
Remove from the oven and dig in. Optional, but delicious, serve with whipped cream or ice cream on top!

What Is The Best Apple For Baking?
Since these baked cinnamon apples have a sweet apple filling, a tangy, firm apple will work best in this recipe. I like to use Granny Smith apples, but Golden Delicious, Honeycrisp, Cameo, Envy, Pink Lady and Jazz apples are also good choices.
Tips
- Feel free to change up the filling to include your favorite ingredients. You can try using chopped almonds or walnuts instead of pecans. You could even add oats, raisins or coconut to the filling. Yum!
- If you have trouble getting your apples to stand upright, you can cut the bottom of the apple to make it level on the bottom. Just be sure not to cut into the cored hole in the apple.
- When hollowing out the apples, you will want to hollow out more than just the core. To do this, I use a paring knife, but a melon baller might work well too. Remember, you want plenty of space in the apple to fit all of the brown sugar filling.
- When you are hollowing out the apples, be extra cautious not to cut all the way through the bottom of the apples. If you do, the filling will leak out the bottom as the apples bake.
What to do with leftover apples?
Baked apples stay fresh in the refrigerator for about three days. To reheat a single baked cinnamon apple, microwave it for about a minute. If you want to reheat several baked apples, you can reheat them in the oven at 350 degrees F until warm.
