Other Sausage Ideas

You can easily switch up the sausage in this casserole if you don’t have kielbasa on hand. Mild or hot Italian sausage works great and adds a different layer of flavor. You can even use ground sausage—just cook it beforehand, then mix it in with the potatoes and green beans before baking. It’s a flexible recipe that works with whatever you’ve got in the fridge!

You can freeze this casserole!

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days.

This casserole also freezes amazing! I can 100% tell you this because we just defrosted one I made for meal prep a few nights ago for dinner and everybody loved it!

To freeze, allow to cool and then either cover the casserole dish with plastic wrap and aluminum foil and then transfer to freezer. Or if you’re like me and don’t have a casserole dish to lose I spoon mine into a large freezer bag and then freeze.

When ready to use, defrost in the microwave, add to a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes or until warm.
