Hi friends,

I hope you’re having a great beginning of the Summer. The temperatures are rising, the plants need more water and we’ve started picking more and more in the garden.

What’s Growing in the Garden: Late June - 4

Here’s what we’re picking in late June: sugar snap peas, broccoli, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots and onions .

Cucumbers

The cucumber plants started producing earlier this year, and we already have a few jars of pickles in the fridge!

Broccoli

The broccoli plants are almost done for the season, but they’ve done well producing some pretty big heads. We’ve been enjoying them roasted , in fresh pasta dishes and chicken & broccoli .

CABBAGE

This year we had a full bed of cabbage growing. A couple got infested with aphids, so we had to compost those, but the rest made it. You know we love cabbage recipes , so we’ve been loving these. These specific cabbages are mini sized (about 2 pounds) resulting in sweet crunchy leaves!

sugar snap peas

I’m not sure if we love eating sugar snap peas more for dinner or snack. Enceladus requests a big bag of these every day to take to Summer camp.

CARROTS

And wow! There’s something about picking carrots every year that just gets me so excited!

ONIONS

In case you missed this post , we grew onions over Winter and now they’re ready to pick! Matthew LOVES onions, so he chops some up (or uses caramelized ) to try to add to every dinner dish.
